A March to Build Power, Stop the Coup, and Support the Palestinian People

patriotic response to renegade government

Hello Friends,

Trump’s hideous speech on Tuesday night is a reminder of how much we have to lose and how important it is to keep up our work to stop his power grab.

This is hard work. There will be times when we feel let down by people who haven’t yet joined us. There will be times when it seems like our task is too big, to fraught with tension and anxiety to get through.

But the promise of what this country could be, the futures of all of our fellow creatures, in this country and throughout the world, the hopes that should belong to our children, these are all too important to abandon.

So, I am asking you to keep showing up. Keep recruiting your friends and neighbors who have not yet felt the urgency to join our actions. We are fortunate to live in a place where there are many people who are organizing, marches, protest events, boycotts or strikes. Here in Windham county, folks who have never before been organizers or activists are stepping up to the task and inspiring us all to join their efforts. We have an excellent resource at our fingertips, wecantogether.net where you can learn about all the events that are happening in our area to combat the march of fascism.

So, I am asking you to join us again in a march and protest on Friday, March 14, from 5-6 PM. In downtown Brattleboro assembling at the Center Congregational Church, 193, Main street.

This march is a call to:

Build our Power we have the numbers, we should have common cause with each other, we don’t yet have unity in standing up for each other

Stop the Coup with our economic power through boycotts and strikes

Standing in solidarity with Palestinians and recognize state oppression wherever it strikes

This will be a loop march, up and down both sides of Main Street. We will have designated performers in each intersection displaying what we are marching for. This will be through drummers, sign bearing groups and groups doing political street theater. For one hour, all of downtown and those passing through it will hear and see loudly and clearly, what we will not countenance and how dedicated and united we are to defend the (albeit imperfect ) Republic that we have inherited.

Please join us to be part of this growing movement. If you are interested in street theater, please contact me. If you are a musician or drummer, please contact me.

thank you all,

Dan DeWalt
